Summer Fun

Yesterday, I got a kiddie wading pool for our backyard.  Not for any children, since we don't have any and hadn't invited any over.  But for Argos.

It took him five minutes to progress from treating it as a giant water bowl to ...  this.

That was the best $11 I have spent in a long time!

The cats of course weren't going to get to participate in the water fun (not that they would want to do that at ALL.)  But they did enjoy lazing about with us.

Except that Patches is on an anti-literacy kick, apparently.

I am more interesting than any book.  You should know this.
Today is more of the same, though we've decided to give an extra-thorough cleaning to all of the house litter boxes  (Woooooo!  Never let it be said that we don't know how to celebrate our independence in style!)  Okay, there might be some grilled hot dogs later.

Happy July 4th, everyone!

  1. Looks like Argos would agree with you on that being the best 11 bucks spent! Well, unless you were to get him 11 bucks worth of hamburgers probably.

  3. Happy 4th of July you folks! Hotdogs sound like a pretty good idea.

And dear Argos must be the happiest today.

  4. Argos, you are so smart!
As a kitty owner, i can swear that books are not meant to be read, but to be used as a throne...

  6. Aww, he's so happy! I have thought about getting Lucy a little pool too, but it will have to wait until our backyard makeover is complete and the fence is re-done. She is soooo bitter that it is nice weather and not frisbee time, and has tried assuring us that she would not run off, but we do not trust her :)

  8. $11 worth of hamburgers would make Argos a very happy dog. We, however, would be driven from the room... enough said, I think?

Books are totally meant to be thrones. Or footstools. Or head-rests. But certainly not to be read. Because that would mean that I was trying to pay attention to something that was not a cat. And that would never be allowed to happen.

Steelcityfox- we were in that boat last summer. We didn't actually get our new fence until September, so Argos had to do without romping in the backyard for the summer... you just don't turn a greyhound loose somewhere unsecured! He didn't seem to mind as much as I did, though!
