Good-bye, Mitchell (in a good way)

Mitchell got adopted tonight. I won't say much, out of respect for the new owner's privacy.  However, I will say that I am pleased with how everything turned out.  Mitchell is going to be very happy in his new home, and I wish him all the best.

But damn, I'm going to miss the little guy.

I suppose that's one of the hazards of the "job" when you foster.

That being said, I just emailed the foster coordinator of the shelter and told her that we might take a brief break, but would be up for fostering more in the future.  So clearly I haven't learned my lesson!

It's okay, Mom, you still have ME.

  1. So happy for Mitchell and new forever home! I am sure it won't be an easy transition for you and you are doing such a great thing by being a foster! Really admire that!

  2. What I imagine is a bittersweet good-bye. Happy and sad. So glad Mitchell started in such good hands so that he was ready for his next bout of being loved so well.

  3. I don't know how you foster-parents do it. The letting go part would be crazy-traumatic for me. I wish that wasn't so, because it is so a great service to provide for the kitties. Thanks for being willing to foster!

  5. Yeah!! It can be hard to get fosters adopted and watch them leave, but mom says that just opens up another spot in the house to help the next animal.... Good luck to Mitchell and his new family.

  9. Oh weep. All your other commenters are so happy, I reserve the right to my gloom. I loved Mitchie. I wanted -- oh I'll stop. Cats off to you for your fortitude. Go softly Mitchell.

  10. Oh, believe me, we've wept. If the laws and our situation were any different, we'd have adopted him and made an "honest cat" out of him months ago.
