A Brief Tribute

I don't have it in me to write another post about Romeo, as a tribute to his memory.  But I'm capable of posting some pictures.  I need to do this, to help myself remember the way he was when he was healthy and alert and reasonably happy.  And I hope that you can enjoy the photos of my handsome boy as well.  RIP, Romeo.

If you're like me, and sometimes find these blog posts out of order, I did make a post explaining what happened right before this one.

Romeo's first day with us.  He's already stolen the dog bed.

Classic Romeo pose.

Probably the first day we got him.  Or soon afterward.

Demonstrating his need to go on a diet.

Romeo's perch in the study.  He loved watching out that window.

Romeo, head-butting me to get more attention, on the couch.

  1. We are so sorry to learn of Romeo's illness and passing. I hope he catches up with Cleo over on the other side of rainbow bridge - she was my mum's cat - and she wouldn't be horrible to him!

Big hugs to you.... Rubie and her mum.

  5. The news, and the picture in your last post, was like a shiv to the chest. Romeo went through difficult times, I see, yet he still looked like he did in your last post. Yet he still loved, and was so loved. Just like the other Romeo (his namesake?). May the sun of this one's memory, his sweet sweet face, "kill the envious moon, Who is already sick and pale with grief." May his noble presence shine on us all, just like in that photograph, for all our lives. With you, in tears.

  7. I am so very sorry for your loss! I never dreamed that Romeo wouldn't come home after being hospitalized for a urinary blockage. I can just imagine your shock and heartache over it!

I think you gave Romeo the best home that he could have had. You made a ton of sacrifices for him so that he could be happy, and I know that he knew that you loved him. You did a lot more for him than many people would have. He knew happiness and love, and even though his life was short, he still had a wonderful one!

Our hearts and prayers go out to you!

  11. I am new to your blog, but I wanted to say how awful I feel for you! But it's obvious that Romeo spent a little over a year with a wonderful family, and that you loved him dearly and did everything you could for him. And for that part, at least you can be happy instead of sad.

  25. He was a lovely and loving cat. He knew you loved him. Going through pictures helps us remember the good times and eases the pain and sorrow, but give yourself time to grieve. Romeo was a good cat, happy and content.
